What detergent do we use in beer tank cleaning?
Acid and alkaline detergent are normally used for beer tank cleaning.
Acid detergent include sulfuric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid and all organic acid. Hydrochloric acid can not used in beer tank cleaning, as Hydrochloric acid will corrode and rust tank.
Organic acid, like citric acid, acetic acid and tartaric acid, has a lower corrosivity than nitric acid. Organic acid have little corrosion to body, it is a eco-friendly detergent, but have a higher price.
alkaline detergent include many Inorganic alkaline compounds, like phosphate, silicate, sodium hydroxide and surfactant. sodium hydroxide and sodium phosphate are often used in cleaning.
sodium hydroxidehave a good clean effect, it is the base of all detergent, the addition is among 1.5%-2%. Based on same concentration, adding certain surfactant can have a better cleaning effect, so adding surfactant can reduce detergent cost.
sodium phosphate is not good for environment because of phosphate.
So normally we choose sodium hydroxidehave as lye liquor.
