Soaking degree refers to the ratio of the sum of the water absorbed by barley after soaking and the water contained in original barley to the mass of barley after soaking, expressed in percentage.
The method of determination and calculation of steepness is introduced as follows.
(1) Method 1: in the actual production, 1000 g barley (accurate to 0.1 g) was weighed and put into a gauze bag to soak together with the barley. During the soaking process or after the soaking, the barley was taken out and the moisture on the surface of the grain was absorbed with filter paper, then weighed and calculated according to formula.
(2)The second method was determined by Burke's apparatus, which was a porous conical vessel. Weigh 100g barley and put it into the Brewster tester, hang it in the soaking trough, insert the lower end of the cone into the water soaked wheat layer, soak the barley together with the production barley, take out the barley in the container, absorb the moisture on the surface of the wheat grain with a dry towel, and then weigh it, and calculate according to the formula.
