The features of plate heat exchanger
Currently in the breweries the plate heat exchanger is usually used as the equipment for wort cooling. It is hermetic cooling facilitates made of stainless steel, which is composed by many pieces plate that have groove both sides. For the features of plate heat exchanger, please check follows:
Feature 1:
High heat transfer efficiency
Due to the plate structure of heat exchanger can form turbulence and provide high heat transfer efficiency. The heat transfer coefficient can reach 1500-5000W/(m2.K), but the tubular heat exchanger only have 350-2300W/(m2.K)
Feature 2:
Compact and occupy small space
In the same condition of heat load, the heat transfer area only is 1/3 of tubular heat transfer.
Feature 3:
High flexibility
It is hard to increase throughput for tubular heat exchanger. But for plate heat exchanger can change the quantity of plates and adjust the heat exchange area. It is very convenient.
Feature 4:
Good seal performance
Put the seal into groove and fixed by gap. With high anti-high pressure capability. Don’t need adhesive. Also have high sanitary level.
Feature 5:
Good security
The special structure of plate seal can prevent the mix between the media. It is divided by double seal and increase the security of heat transfer.
