A kettle/whirpool tun combines wort boiling and whirlpool function into one tank, which is a good solution to save space and budget.
After boiling, the wort is pumped out of kettle/whirlpool tun, and then come back kettle/whirlpool tun via the tangential inlet. It takes 5 minutes to recycle wort by pump, then the wort rest in tank for 30-45 minutes to concentrate residue on the cone bottom, then drain out.
For small scale kettle/whirlpool tun, there is no mixing system in the tanks because boiling wort can be mixed manually. But for some brew masters who pursue to top quality and pay attention to everything details, they always prefer to install a mixing system with VFD control to make the wort be mixed evenly.
But for a combined kettle/whirpool tun, the mixing system won't be a problem for the whirlpool process? The blades won't affect?
More or less, the blades will have negative effect on whirlpool process. So we design a new kind of maxing system, which means the blades are movable along center shaft. During boiling process, the blades are at bottom of tanks to mix wort. After mixing, the blades can be lifted up by a hook to hang up on manway. Because blades are put on top of wort, so it will not affect whirlpool.
