For the most part, beer is brewed using the same steps and ingredients. Designing some extra steps in the commercial brewing process that is not required for home brewing, these additional processes and steps are due to the equipment used by commercial breweries and the capacity required to brew beer. Tiantai winemakers will discuss the difference between commercial brewing and home brewing processes.
1. Different definitions Commercial brewing refers to the brewing of beer or other types of wine by a business or brewery that the practitioner sells to consumers or wholesalers for a profit. Homebrewing refers to the small-scale brewing of beer, mead, or cider at home, usually as a hobby, and not sold to others.
2. Different capacities The brewing process for commercial brewing and home brewing is the same: the grains are mashed, hops are added, the wort is fermented, the beer is aged, and finally the beer is bottled. The big difference is that commercial breweries can produce more beer than home brews.
3. Different devices When making homebrew, you don't need a lot of equipment and tools, just buy a few sample cans or barrels, and you can start making 1-5 gallons of quality beer. Commercial brewing requires the purchase of a lot of complex equipment, raw materials and utilities, even for small breweries. In general, a list of supplies to consider when starting a microbrewery: Equipment: mashing equipment (kettles, boilers), barrels, cooling systems, bright tanks, fermenters, filters, pipes, CIP systems, waste management systems, filling or bottling equipment, etc. Supply: hops, malt, yeast, bottles, labels and packaging. Utilities: Electricity, steam and water.
4. Commercial Brewing Limitations Commercial brewing has significant limitations compared to home brewing. Home brewing can make the beer taste you want, with less loss if the brew is bad. Commercial brews are brewed in batches to wholesalers, and if brewed badly, losses can run into the hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Of course, in many breweries, there will be dedicated brewers for small batch brewing, and large batch brewing will only be carried out after the beer style and taste meet the requirements.
